Announcing auditions for the production of Something Rotten!
Principal Character List: 7-8 Men & 2-3 Women (Depending on Nostradamus casting) and Ensemble. For character breakdown, see below.
***Seeking strong adult non-equity talent of all ages with fantastic comedic timing who can act, sing, and dance. Particularly seeking actors of diversity.
Rock sound, sexy, “bad-boy” presence (Rock Tenor)
Nigel’s older brother, talented, but so desperate to be successful that he makes horrible decisions (Tenor, Baritone)
Nick’s younger brother, smart, creative, a true poet, and is in love with “love” and Portia (High Baritone/Tenor)
Considering male and female options, a soothsayer, the real Nostradamus’ nephew or niece (Male-Baritone or Female-Mezzo)
Nick’s boisterous wife, pretends to be a rough and tough man most of the show to help support her family (Belter- Mezzo-Soprano)
Portia’s father, a Puritan. Is outraged by homosexuals while more than likely being homosexual himself (Tenor, Baritone)
Brother Jeremiah’s daughter. In love with Nigel. She’s attracted to talented poets (Youthful Soprano with a strong mix)
Lord Clapham/Master of the Justice
Lord Clapham funds Nick’s theatre troupe, but refuses to fund their troupe unless they have another play by the next morning (Tenor, Baritone)
Opens Act 1 & 2, welcoming the audience to the Renaissance, and to join them all for this important story (Tenor)
A man with a stereotypical Jewish dialect. He desperately wants to fund Nick Bottom’s troupe, but it is illegal to employ a Jewish man (Baritone)
5 Men, including Minstrel & Shylock who are also in the Ensemble (Tenor, Baritone) & 5 Women (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano)
Preliminary Auditions will take place in five-minute audition appointments on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Monday, January 13, 2020 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
If you cannot attend auditions in person, you may submit a video audition through theatre Forms. Click on the sign up link below, and follow instructions to send us your video audition. Video auditions must be received by January 10, 2020.

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will all be held in Palatine.
Metra trains, from Chicago on the east and from Harvard on the west, stop in Palatine. The station is right on the same street as the theatre, only four blocks away and features free parking.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
Provide a current Headshot and Resume. Prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of this show that best shows off your vocal abilities, and a one-minute comedic monologue. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or or CD accompaniment allowed.
Please arrive at the audition location at least 15 minutes prior to your audition appointment time, and bring the sheet music for your vocal selection.
There will be no pay for the cast.
Rehearsals will begin February 9, 2020 and typically will be held four (4) to five (5) days a week, Sundays through Thursdays and will be at various venues in Palatine, IL.
Please be prepared to list all conflicts at auditions. Please note we will be unable to cast individuals who have a conflict with the mandatory tech week (see below).

Opening Night-Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 8:00 p.m.
Fridays at 8:00 p.m.- March 20, 27, April 3, 10
Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.- March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11
Sundays at 3:00 p.m.- March 15, 22, 29, April 5, (Possibly will add April 12, Easter Day)
